Thank you 🤗! Next up, Girls Night Out & LYS Day!

Thank you 🤗! Next up, Girls Night Out & LYS Day!

What a fun day--and I failed to take a single picture! 🤦🏻

So many fiber friends turned up in person, I shipped out one load of packages, and have a small stack yet to send, and Social Stitching was lively and fun (although it always is). We sold out of our Kim Dyes Yarn custom color, Ellensburg Blue, but we still have some other exclusives left, and I'll post some more pics below.

As is often the case with temporarily free patterns, my Elevenses design was briefly #10 on Ravelry's "Hot Right Now" page, and was ahead of the Emotional Support Chicken. While there is no more of the Stroopwafel DK, alternate yarn suggestions are Madelinetosh Tosh DK and Madelinetosh Farm Twist, so if you would like a copy of the pattern with a DK yarn purchase, please let me know--I'm happy to share with the Yarn Folk community.yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

…new in the shop

If you missed our 11th anniversary offerings, let me recap what we are still featuring!

Eleven is an eleven color self-striping fingering weight yarn--75% superwash Merino wool with 25% nylon. Each of the eleven colors shifts into the next on a grey background. The color sequence is so long that it doesn't repeat--a bonus if you like socks that are just a little bit funky. I am making a Musselburgh Hat, and the finished hat will have a pronounced warm side (reds, pinks, orange, yellow) and a cool side (greens, teal, blue, purple).

I use my Mini Minder all the time, and the team at Lemon Wood was fantastic to work with on a custom design for the shop. Old Heat takes inspiration from the brickwork on the smokestack of the old steam plant on University. I love how this motif speaks to a sense of place in a way that is so connected to the fiber arts. (Look for a charted colorwork design in the near-ish future.)

And last, there are still some gorgeous one of a kind skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh DK left. These are all wonderful, but for a variety of reasons, were one-offs, and we're offering them at $5 off the regular price of Tosh DK. You can find the OOAK skeins here and the "regular" Tosh DK here.

…to inspire

It's almost May (impossible, I know), and that means it's almost time for #KnitOrCrochetEveryDayInMay--our annual habit-nurturing tradition with a small thank-you prize at the end. You can find a printable PDF of this year's tracker, plus the rules, here, and I also have them available in the shop.

...currently stitching

Stitching time was at a real premium last week, and I didn't make much progress on either sweater project. Thanks to my Mini Minder, I was able to work on the Musselburgh Hat in Eleven--it's the perfect thing to add stitches to while helping folks in the shop. I'm using US 4 (3.5mm) needles to get a gauge of 6.5 stitches per inch, and should have plenty of yardage to finish an adult medium. (Honestly, I suspect there is enough for an adult large, but not the extra-large.) Here it is, through all the warm colors, and just beginning the greens!
