WWKIP, Beginning Knitting, and Craftsy Connect

See that nifty Craftsy badge right over there? ---> My apologies if this is your fourth time encountering this info. (And also, if it is, my deepest thanks! You've been in the shop to be added to my email list, have liked the shop on Facebook, are in the Yarn Folk Ravelry group, and visit the blog here!)

Here in Ellensburg, spring is reluctant this year, but we can look for the silver lining and relish the EXCELLENT crafting weather, right? Nothing like a warm cup of coffee or tea, wonderful yarn, and needles or a hook to take our minds off the drizzle and the cool temps!

I'm writing with a few announcements. First, mark your calendars for JUNE 16th, when Yarn Folk will be hosting a World Wide Knit in Public event at the shop from 12pm - 4pm. It is Father's Day, but if there is a special dad in your life, turn over the house to him for naptime while you come and work a few rows. We will have iced tea and lemonade, and we'll hope for weather nice enough to warrant moving chairs outside. I will have several fun kits for door prizes, and you should plan to wear or bring a knit or crocheted item for show and tell! This promises to be a fun event; please join us, and bring any fiber-loving friends!

Next, I'm pleased to have some dates for Beginning Knitting classes at Yarn Folk. To begin with, I will offer two two-session classes, one on Wednesday evenings, June 19th and June 26th from 7-8 pm, and one on Saturday mornings, June 22 and June 29th from 9-10 am. Cost is $25 per person, plus supplies, and includes four additional 15 minute help sessions. To ensure personal attention, these classes will be limited to four students each. If the dates don't work for you, don't panic! The class will be repeated in the future. A 50% deposit is required to enroll, with the balance due at or before the first class session. In the class we will make a small knit coaster that will introduce you to the knit stitch (American and European style), simple stitch increases and decreases, casting on, and binding off. We will also cover some knitting basics, and do some planning for follow-up projects to develop your skills.

Last, but not least--and thank you for reading this far--I'm excited to announce:

We're a Craftsy Connect Retailer!

Yarn Folk is striving to offer you all the essentials you need in terms of supplies, inspiration, and education. However, in these early days of building an education program, I may not yet have just the class or workshop you’re seeking. (Nor do I imagine that Lucy Neatby, Fiona Ellis, or Stephen West have imminent plans to visit Ellensburg!)

With that in mind, I am thrilled to announce that Yarn Folk is officially a Craftsy Connect retailer! Being a Craftsy Connect retailer allows me to fill in gaps in my class offerings right now--ensuring you have the education you need, at a time that is convenient for you.

Here’s how it works:

• Anytime you purchase a Craftsy class, please do so through our Craftsy Connect Badge (in the right hand column here at the blog) Or, simply type this link into your browser’s address bar: www.craftsy.com/YarnFolk • After your purchase is complete, you’ll receive a $5 coupon to Yarn Folk. Use this coupon for class supplies, or anything else you might need. (*Coupon will be sent within 48 hours after class purchase.)

Additionally, when you purchase a Craftsy class through the Yarn Folk Craftsy Connect Badge, you’re directly supporting the store! It is truly a win-win partnership--you can access more classes while you continue to support your local, independent retailer.

I became interested in the Craftsy connect program after doing a class through the site; the instruction is exceptional. If you’re curious about the classes that Craftsy offers, just click here to view their full catalog: www.craftsy.com/YarnFolk. Any time you start at the Yarn Folk link, you benefit the shop and receive the reward coupon--even if you're exploring something outside the fiber arts!

So, to recap:
